Sorry for the radio silence the past month. It’s been a crazy adventure. We are excited to announce that we have made it to Shanghai (during a Typhoon) and we will have plenty more postings on that soon 🙂
A few weeks ago, we spent 5 days in Asheville, NC to visit family and had a blast touring the funky town.
Every Friday they host a drum circle, where anyone with a drum can join in to create some great beats for dancing. We also enjoyed a few of the many local breweries creating tasty craft beer. Topping those fun activities with shopping, gallery walking, hiking and a great kayaking trip down the river. It was a blast! You can catch a live music performance nearly anywhere in the city, ranging from impromptu street bands, to more organized events like their summer “Downtown After 5” concerts.
Here are some of our suggestions if you ever head that way:
Eat: Tupelo Honey Cafe for delicious southern breakfast downtown & French Broad Chocolate Lounge for dessert. We indulged in Salted Caramel and Dark Chocolate melted truffel. Yum!
Drink: Sky Bar for specialty cocktails plus a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains from their clever location up on a fire escape & Wicked Weed for craft beer. Wicked Weed also has another brewery for sours, Funkatorium that was amazing if you feel like trying something different.
Play: Asheville Outdoor Center for Kayaking and Tubing the River. You can see the Biltmore as you float on by.
Enjoy: A movie and a pizza at the Asheville Pizza and Brewing Co. in their old theater
