Why We Are Moving to China

In December, Tyler and I spent a long car trip discussing what we wanted our lives to be like. It turns out that the daily jobs in Lubbock just weren’t quite right for us.

We felt like we were settling in and it was scary that we were so easily able to just accept the daily routine and not question it for over 6 months. We were both restless and wanted more. We were working just to pay our bills and buy more stuff.

We are both 23 and have our whole lives to fill up our garages with extra furniture and old electronics. We do want a family and a settled life with our two doggies someday, but that someday is far away.

After researching, we found out that the best path for us would be to teach English for a year. We would work for a company that would sponsor our Visa’s to China and be that much closer to the many destinations we want to see in Asia.

All of our lives (which hasn’t been that long…) we have heard advice along the lines of “Get out and live while you are young.” So we finally listened and decided to take that leap into the unknown. Even if we come out on the other end of this adventure without a penny to our names I’m sure the experiences along the way will be well worth it.

Being alive is something that everyone does everyday. Now feeling alive is a choice…after that car ride in December we knew what choice to make.

What big choices have you made in your life lately?
